Susan Banks-Beebe
Susan Banks-Beebe has been teaching in the Atlanta area for more than thirty years. She began her studies in the Children's Pre-Professional Program at Point Park Conservatory of Performing Arts in Pittsburgh, PA. She spent several summers on scholarship with the Chautauqua Institution, NY. She graduated cum laude from Point Park University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance. She has continued her training by successfully completing the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) Teacher Training Intensive, a three-part program including teacher training in all levels of ballet; pre-school through professional. Susan was awarded the first ABT Affiliate Teacher status in the State of Georgia and is currently one of only 79 ABT Affiliate Teachers in the world.
Susan performed with Ballet Petrov, American Dance Ensemble, and the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera in Pittsburgh, PA in roles including: The Nutcracker, Carmina Burana, Serenade, Paquita, Summerset, Carmen, Merry Widow Pas de Deux, Graduation Ball, Pas de Dix, Scherazade, Romeo and Juliet, and Song of Norway. After leaving Pittsburgh, Susan danced for two seasons with the Atlanta Ballet, followed by the Ruth Mitchell Dance Theatre and the Atlanta Symphony. After retiring from performing, Susan became Associate Director for the Ruth Mitchell Dance Theatre and resident instructor/choreographer at Pebblebrook High School. Susan directed the dance program at North Atlanta School of the Arts in Acworth, GA and the inaugural years of the Ballet Conservatory at Impact Dance. She was also an instructor at The Atlanta Ballet. In addition to owning Atlanta Academy of Ballet, Susan serves on the Dance Advisory Board for the dance program at Kennesaw State University. Susan continues to share her love of ballet at AABD and by teaching master classes across the US and Canada.
